First Night Box

This is a great idea logistically. Keep this handy box at your side and fill it with everything you’ll need on the day of the move and the first night, so you do not have to go digging for anything. This could mean items such as cooking ingredients, medication, pet food, towels and toiletries, for example.

Save up materials

Important packaging materials include a good mix of different sized cardboard boxes and some of the more heavy-duty ones as well. Other must-have items include tape, bubble wrap and labels.

Preparing Early

Packing is a task that always takes longer than you expect, so get a head start and pack goods that are not needed into boxes nice and early. A general guideline for a large house is one box a day will take about two months. The first items you can pack could be off-season items, for example.

Do not overfill

If you are short of boxes, then you may be tempted to overfill boxes as you pack. However, this is not a good idea because it can cause injury to you or removal staff. There is also the risk of destroying valuable items or things that have a lot of sentimental value.
