A Walk in the Autumnal Woodland

Autumn is a great time of year to go into the woodlands – as the landscape changes so dramatically, there are lots of interesting things to see. Wrap up warm in clothing like this irish mens sweater https://www.shamrockgift.com/aran-sweaters/mens-aran-sweaters/ and take a walk into the woods to see if you can spot any of these autumn wonders…

Changing Coloured Leaves – The autumn is a spectacular time to see the trees in their full glory, changing colour from green to many shades of yellow to orange to deep rich reds. There are lots of places around the British isles to see the trees in the autumn, from the Lake District to Gloucestershire.

Fungi – If you are interested in the many types of fungi that live in the woodlands, autumn is the best time to spot many of them. From the magical fairytale mushroom, the fly agaric, to the delicious treat, chicken of the woods found growing up the trees, take a look on the forest floor and especially around the trees to see what you can spot. Remember not to eat any mushrooms unless you are absolutely certain what they are.

Animals and Birds – Autumn is a busy time in the animal kingdom, as many species race to stock up on the bountiful treats on offer before the drought of the winter months. From squirrels foraging for nuts, to birds eating the last of the autumn berries, you will often come across lots of animals busily stocking up in the woodlands at this time of the year.
